@VRM re: the control of copra prices by dominant in your area. MAy we inform you that copra buyers have no control of the copra prices. The reason for the recent decline of prices has been due to the low demand of the coconut oil in Asian major buyers China, Pakistan and India. Export is expected to decline becuase of the oil stock availability of these buyers. Another reason is the world price fluctuations which are primarily affected by large available volume of soya and palm oil produce by other nations. These two vegetable oils are the main compe ors of coconut oil and ususally dictate the world prices in vegetable oils.

@LEVY re: reasons in the continuous drop of copra prices and the possibility of increasing again. The reason for the decent decling of copra prices has been due to the low demand of the coconut oil in Asian major buyers particularly China, which is the largest market of coconut oil. Export is expected to decline because of the oil stock availability of these buyers. Another reason is the world price fluctuations which are primarily affected by large available volume of soya and palm oil produce by other nations. these two vegetable oils are the main compe ors of coconut oil and usually dictate world prices in vegetable oils. @Jong re: plummet of the price of copra and it there is a chance for an increase in prices by the 1st qtr. or 2009. The reason behind this is more related to the supply and demand in the world market for oil and the compe on with countries producing soya and palm oil. Major buyers of the Philippine coconut oil particularly CHina, Pakistan and India have presently enough supply of their needed vegetable oils resulting in lower demand. Compared to our coconut oil, soya and palm are produced in large volume and usually dictate world prices of vegetable oils. On your query if there is hope of an increase in copra prices by the first quarter of 2009, we are sorry to say that copra prices is highly dependent on world market supply and demand thus, prediction of copra price is not obtainable.

@Luz G. Trozo re: planting coco trees with incentives. You are probably referring to the PArticipatory Coconut Planting Project (PCPP) which is a time-framed special project of the Philippint Coconut Authority. We wish to inform you that based on the Memorandum Circular No. 1, Series of 2008, specifically item #3 on the Project Implementation Period, the following are to be strictly observer 1. The seednuts are sown by Feb. 28, 2008; 2. Seedlings must be ready for transplanting by June, 2008; 3. Seedlings must be field transplanted by July and have stabilized by November, 2008. Since the project has a time frame, it could not accomodate planting that did not coincide with teh schedule of the project. Aside, at this time, the project is already finalizing its payment of incentives to our farmer-participants.

@Jourly, RE: increasing copra products, YES there is still a chance to increase your nut production. Just follow the necessary cultural management practices like applying the necessary fertilizers, sound pest management, covercropping and intercropping, surely the coconut will yield more and subsequently, increase your copra production. For more information regarding the cultural management practices, processing and by-product utilization, please feel free to get in touch with MR. Hi, i am from Davao City and our coconut farm is from Davao del Sur, as i have noticed in all copra and nuts delivery here, there are only 2 main buyers of copra and nuts, and all others who buy and sells copra sells their product to these two leading buyers. Namely- interco and licop. i would like to ask first what to they do to the copra and where do they sell it abroad? Our corporation wishes to compete with these two. also, i'd like to ask what is the basis foe the copra and nuts prices? lastly, where can we sell the coconut husks in our area?

Sana naman maka avail ang lahat na coconut planters sa program na to, (NCPP) farmers are so hard up this time, with this help it could mean a lot. So, I am hoping for the best implementation of this program. Sabi pa nang local PCA personnel na nakausap ko wala pa daw silang membro coming from the place where I'd like to plant coconut to replace the old one, that is no longer productive, that even discourage the harvester, during harvest season due to the hazard they are going to face just to get 5 coco in such height.

Hi PCA, I've been looking for the detailed design of your Kukum Hot Air Copra Drier for many years now, I contacted PCCARD online, our local PCA office, however, they just keep transferring my queries to other person who they said expert to this technology however, when I contacted on e-mail nobody answers my query. I was wondering if you are really serious of your program to assist farmer to switch to Kukum driers from Smoke-kiln drier. I'd appreciate if you could post that detailed design drawing on your website as soon as possible. Thanks.

It seems that Admin. Garin is not true to his words about the farmers incentives. Bakit hanggang ngayon di pa kami nabayaran ng incentives namin sa pag na nursery namin ng seednuts.
